How Transitions® Lenses Work
Transitions® Lenses contain patented photochromic dye that cause the lens to activate, or darken, when exposed to ultraviolet rays from sunlight. When the UV light diminishes, the lenses fade back to their virtually clear state. As light conditions change, the level of darkness adjusts, offering just the right level of tint and just the right level of light to enter the eyes at the right time.

Transitions Optical has resurrected this name for a lens that’s darker both indoors and outdoors than their primary Transitions lens. Because its photochromic molecues respond to shorter UV wavelenths and visible light in the lower end of the spectrum, it moderatley darkens behind automobile windshields.
