Strengthen Your Eyes
We all know about carrots being good for your eyes. We grew up with Bugs Bunny promoting the sweet vegetable and with all the urban legends about carrots, many of which turned out to be entirely correct. Carrots are high in vitamin A and beta-carotene. Speaking of cartoon characters who must have had great eyesight, Popeye would have been right up there with Bugs Bunny. We suppose his name might have been somewhat of a clue if we had taken the time to look at it right.
Why Popeye? Well, as you know, Popeye was famous for consuming one vegetable whenever he needed his full strength, spinach. It turns out spinach does far more than help you build strong muscles. It helps you see better. Spinach, like kale and other dark, leafy greens are rich in two antioxidants stores in the macula, lutein and zeaxanthin, both of whom help absorb blue light.
So reach for the spinach and make your eyes as strong as the rest of your body.
